Lanai may be one of the smallest Hawaiian Islands, but it is big in luxury. The island only has about 30 miles of paved roads and no stop lights, but it has two, and I repeat, two Four Seasons Hotels. The Four Seasons Lodge at Koele is located in the upcountry near Lanai City. The Four Seasons Resort Manele Bay is located on the coast. Both hotels recently made the Travel + Leisure 2007 list of Best Hotels in the World and the Spa at Manele made the 2007 Mobil guide as a 4-star spa. These resorts have outstanding golf courses as well.
Both resorts get high marks on Trip Advisor. I’ve linked the reviews for your convenience:
Rates at the Lodge at Koele start at $295/night, while the Manele Bay location is a bit more pricey with rates starting at $395. There are some free night special offers available until mid-December.
Lanai is slightly trickier to get to from the Mainland or from international airports as compared to the Big Island, Maui, Oahu, and Kauai. You can get to Lanai by air from the Maui airport at Kahului or from the Honolulu airport on Oahu. Alternatively, you can get to Lanai from Maui via the Lahaina-Lanai Ferry, but if you are flying into Maui, you’ll have to find transportation from Kahului to Lahaina.
