Hawaii Vacation News Roundup for February 11th

In today’s news, we find free Hawaiian music and a massive shark video, plus much more.

  • You can get a free Hawaiian music CD at the Waikiki Beach Walk on Oahu.  The CD, Ku Ha’aheo, is available exclusively at Mana Hawaii, located on the second level of the Waikiki Beach Walk (226 Lewers St.).  To get the CD, you’ll first need to pick up a visitor publication call “The Best of Oahu” available in all Outrigger and OHANA hotel lobbies, as well as throughout Waikiki in visitor publication stands.  Inside the publication, you’ll find a coupon that you’ll need to redeem for the CD.  I love free, it’s my favorite price. 🙂
  • Looking for a vacation that will put some romance back in your relationship?  Then you’ll be interested in the special “Feel the Passion” package at the Wyland Waikiki.  Rates start at $259 per night (based on minimum three night stay) and the package includes an upgrade to a one-bedroom suite, fresh flower leis, and a “Passion Pack”.  So, what does one find in a passion pack?  It includes chocolate-dipped tropical fruit, champagne with custom designed Wyland insignia flutes, Passion Mango massage oil, and a silk blindfold.  Oh my, I think I’m blushing now.  🙂  The package is available through December 31, 2008.
  • The most recent Hawaii hotel rates indicated a state wide average rate of $207 per night.  Maui’s rate was $274, while Kauai’s rate was the next highest at $223.  The Big Island’s rate was $215.  Oahu had the only rate under $200, at an average of $175.  (Source)

  • If the above news items weren’t interesting enough, then I hope this 18 foot, deep sea shark video will impress you. The video was captured by University of Hawaii undersea researchers. Though the impressive video was captured in 2006 about two miles away from Molokai, it has only recently been added to YouTube. (Source
