Hula dancing can be beautiful, graceful, and powerful. It can also be extremely adorable when the kids (keikis) are hula dancing. The Lahaina Cannery Mall on Maui will be hosting their tenth-annual Keiki Hula Festival on July 26th and 27th from 11am to 6pm.
The two-day event will feature eight halau [hula schools] from across the island presenting richly choreographed kahiko and auana hula that express the traditional values of Hawaii and the Pacific Islands. The weekend celebration will also feature Hawaiian artisans and crafters demonstrating lei making, wood carving, weaving and other traditional skills, as well as a closing concert from Owana Salazar.
If you are going to be on Maui at the end of July, you should definitely make plans to attend this free event. I would almost guarantee this keiki hula festival will make you smile.
