* This week’s top hotel deal pick is the Kauai Marriott Resort’s $199 for an ocean view room. I’ve seen garden view rooms at this resort going for $189, so with this deal, you pay another $10 for a ocean view. That’s a bargain, in my opinion. * The 8th Annual Waikiki SPAM JAM® Event is set for the last Saturday in April, the 24th, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki. As you may recall, Hawaii loves Spam, and this event celebrates that love affair. The event is free, though guests are encouraged to bring a can of Spam to support the Hawaii Foodbank.
* If you plan to kayak Kealakekua Bay, you need to be aware of a new permit policy required for those seeking to land vessels along the Ka‘awaloa shoreline or moor at the wharf adjacent to the Captain Cook Monument in the bay.
