A peek at Hanakapi'ai Beach and the Na Pali Coast from Kauai's Kalalau Trail

* Bah, bah, bah, bah, bah, bah….bah, bah, bah, bah,,baaah. What’s that, you ask? Well, it’s the theme song to Hawaii Five-O. Who else is excited that this drama premieres tonight? Get a leg up on what to expect from the new series by reading this Star Advertiser piece comparing the original  with the new.

* Hawaiian Airlines has a fare sale for travel in 2011.  If you book by the end of today, you can snag fares starting at $308 round-trip for travel between January 10 and March 10, 2011.

* Hawaii State Parks are improving Kauai’s challenging Kalalau Trail to make it safer. As such, the trail and camping will be closed beyond the first two miles into the trail until November 1st. (Source)

* Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa’s multi-million dollar renovations are progressing. One of the two guest room buildings has be renovated and the second building renovations are in progress. The project is scheduled to complete in December. I’ve been given a sneak peak (see the below photo) at a renovated room to share with you.

  1. I got to see the premier in Waikiki last week. The show was pretty good. Much better than expected. The scenic photography of Hawaii is amazing. Hawaii is the star of the show for sure.

    As a Honolulu resident I had to laugh a bit at all the action though. Honolulu is consistently ranked as one of the safest big cities in the entire country. Last year Honolulu was ranked as the #1 safest big city in the in the US. I hope nobody takes the show too seriously. 😉
