Hawaii Vacation News & Deals: July 13, 2011

Let’s peek through these palms to see what Hawaii vacation news has come our way today.

Hulopoe Bay

Travaasa announced the opening of their newest experiential hotelTravaasa Hana, formerly the Hotel Hana-Maui. I love the new all-inclusive concept of the this resort with their Sea Ranch Cottages. that includes meals, daily spa treatment (!), free exercise and cultural classes and much more. We’re going to Maui in August and are super excited that we have reserved two nights in one of the Sea Ranch Cottages at Travaasa Hana. I can’t wait to check it out and tell you all about it! Sea Ranch Cottages are reserved for adults and children 16 and over. If you aren’t looking for all-inclusive and you are traveling with children under the age of 16, Travaasa Hana offers Garden View Suites.

*  Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel on the Big Island just completed an oceanfront room renewal. You can check out the new décor here.

*  Wondering which resorts are tops in Hawaii? Check out Travel + Leisure’s recently released 2011 list of the top resorts in Hawaii.  After you review the list, I’d love to hear what you thought of it. Any surprises for you?

*  Discount airline, Allegiant, has plans to begin service to Hawaii from the US Mainland in 2012. The company announced that they have received approval from the FAA to begin operating Boeing 757-200 aircraft. I remember a thing or two from my Economics 201 class, so I would anticipate that the additional competition should press other US airlines to discount their prices.

    1. Thanks, Janet. We’ve got 2 nights planned in Hana….for such a sleepy town, I’m already concerned that 2 nights is not going to be long enough. 🙂

  1. Will be interested in hearing your take on the new operation in Hana. I admit I was a little sad to hear that someone else was taking over the Hotel Hana-Maui, but haven’t really paid too much attention to how much, if anything, they really changed.

We stayed for one night in Hana back in ’09 and the sea cottages are amazing. We definitely wish we stayed longer to really appreciate the property and everything they have to offer, and its certainly on our list in the future.

Preferably before our little keiki turns 16, anyway. 😉

    1. Kris — hopefully it will be like Hotel Hana-Maui, but mo bettah. 🙂

I’ll definitely give you the full scoop.
