This water lily photo was taken from Waimea Valley on the North Shore of Oahu where paved paths lead you beside of trees, flowers and shrubs from around the world. Here, you can also look for rare birds, like the Alea Ula or go for a swim in at a waterfall. Admission is $13 for adults, but look for coupons. We found a coupon from our Oahu drive guide for buy one ticket, get the second ticket half off.
I should also mention that Honolulu County offers several beautiful botanical gardens that are either free or low cost to visit. For more information, see the Honolulu Botanical Gardens’ website.
Have you been to a garden in Oahu? Where did you go? What was your experience.

I’m kicking myself for having been to Honolulu/Waikiki three times and never checking out the botanical gardens. I hope to get back there early next year if I’m lucky or maybe 2013. I also want to get to Waimea Valley when I’m there.. I can’t wait!
