I just got word that Oahu’s Ko Olina Resort is planning a huge New Year’s Eve fireworks extravaganza! How huge? The sponsors are spending over $100,000 and making the fireworks visible from all four ocean lagoons. They’re also touting it as “Hawaii’s largest”. Here’s a bit more from the sponsors:
- Synchronized soundtrack features popular music artists from Bruddah Iz and the Black-Eyed Peas to Katy Perry, Journey, Taio Cruz and more
- First-ever New Year’s Eve offering by Ko Olina fires at midnight over four oceanfront lagoons land and sea vantage points for viewing.
- $100,000+ show choreographed by Hawaii Explosives & Pyrotechnics, the Pacific Rim’s finest pyrotechnicians
Cocktail and dining options will be available at the Ko Olina resort properties – JW Marriott Ihilani, Disney’s Aulani Resort, and Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club. If you plan to dine at any of these locations, I highly recommend that you book as soon as possible.
Viewing the fireworks is free and open to the public, though parking is $20 per car. Ko Olina grounds will be available from 7pm. See a few more details here about restrictions.
Ko Olina Resort is located on Oahu’s leeward western shore, approximately 17 miles from Honolulu.

Hah! Free, but parking is $20. That’s like Hawaiian Air saying the airfare is free, you just have to pay $500 for your seat. 😛 Nice try Ko Olina!
That said, $20 for a family to see an awesome fireworks show is a bargain!
