To the top of Haleakala to watch the sun rise on Christmas morning.
I would spend Christmas on Oahu North Shore. I would love to see the big waves/surfing championships.
I would spend Christmas on Maui & Lanai. I would take the ferry over to Lanai for the day and enjoy the whales each way along the passage.
I would love to be on Diamond Head lookout at sunrise on Christmas morning. But let’s face it….is there a bad place to be anywhere in Hawaii on any day of the year?
I would spend Christmas In Oahu and watch the big waves
If I could spend Christmas anywhere in Hawaii it would be hiking with my family on the Hanakapi’ai trail at the end of the road at Ke’e beach. Then we would spend the rest of the day somewhere in Hanalei Bay. Doesn’t get much better than that.
If I was in Hawaii for Christmas, I’d spend it right in Waikiki. Maybe a morning hike to the top of Diamond Head, some afternoon time on a board in the waves, and drinks under the banyan at the Moana hotel!
If we could spend Christmas in Hawaii, it would be in Lahaina. We have been fortunate enough to spend a New Year’s there but never have we been able to spend Christmas. We fell in love with Lahaina the first time we visited it and we feel it is our home away from home. The people are always nice and friendly. There are plenty of activities, but more importantly, the beaches in the area are wonderful!
On Waikiki Beach with my husband and kids.
Spending time with family celebrating and feasting, at a Christmas eve or day service in church, walking around the hotels in Waikiki enjoying the Christmas displays and in downtown, relaxing on the sandy beaches.
I would spend the day on Kaanapali Beach on Maui relaxing.
I would definitely return to Lahaina, Maui. Fell in love with it this past September when I was there for the first time. I was also baptized while there. Very special place for me!!!
At the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa in Wailea, Maui. My husband and I have been fortunate enough to spend Christmas in Hawaii four times. We had an awesome time and made many great memories!
I will spend Christmas on Waikiki Beach this year with my family – it is our first trip to Hawaii!!
On the Big Island where the Kilauea is erupting again.
I would love to spend Christmas at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Waikiki Beach. I’ve seen pictures of the decorations – all in pink – and they’re beautiful. And, being in Honolulu, I could see all the lights and decorations of the city. Mele Kalikimaka!
visit all my relatives
Kapaa, Kauai is where I would be. Having fish tacos at the El Pastor taco truck. Christmas dinner at its finest!
Since the last 5 years, we have been celebrating Christmas and New Year at either Maui, Honolulu or the Big Island. This is the only time that we, as a family, are able to devote ourselves to each other, instead of the multitude of business and school activities that comprise our day-to-day lives. Our favourite spot would be to spend Christmas at Mile 14 at Maui, enjoying the beach and snorkeling (a little-known paradise).
I would spend it in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island. We love the desert-like qualities and the lava rock.
I would like to spend my Christmas on Maui. We would start off with a midnight church service, in the morning open Christmas presents, and head out the door to have a nice day on the beach with my Ohana.
In the evening, we would all go to 808 Bistro in Kihei, for some grinds.
I would happily spend Christmas Day having a picnic lunch at Diamond Head and also going for a swim at Waikiki. I would also like to give some food and presents to the homeless in the big park near Ala Moana.
Ces décorations de Noel sont super, j’aimerais bien en avoir pour me rappeler mon séjour à Hawaii.
Waikiki Beach
My very favorite place in Hawaii is the Kona Coast. Perfect weather, calm oceans, great diving and beautiful accommodations available to rent. The real gem in Milolii, away from it all.
I would spend Christmas in Honolulu with my 90 year old godfather who lives in a assisted living facility there. We would go to mass on Christmas morning, then out for brunch. We would then visit my godmother’s grave at Punchbowl and spend the rest of the day riding around the island taking in the sights before having a wonderful Christmas dinner somewhere on the island (his choice!)
I would go to Lahaina, Maui
On Maui at a luau with family & friends sharing the holiday blessings with all, giving thanks for what we have and sharing with others….
I would spend Christmas with my family on Kauai. Two years ago we arrived on Dec 28th and stayed in Kailua-Kona for 5 days and then flew to Kauai for 5 days with the family. We had a famulous time on both islands
Punalu’u Beach on the Big Island. Fantastic place. Turtles, waves, and beautiful blue water.
I would love to spend time on Maui watching the beautiful whales from the balcony with my wonderful and loving husband.
Definitely Maalaea
I would love to go to Kona to my sister’s home!!
any place on Oahu. with my family 2son’s & his lady. north shore pali look out, diamond head. eat ono grinds. relax at the beach.
The Painted Church in South Kona holds a special place in my heart. To celebrate the miracle of Christmas with the spirit of Aloha in the air would truly be a blessing.
Definitely Oahu:)!
If I could spend Christmas anywhere in Hawaii, it would be spent eating my favorite cinnamon rolls with
Mac nuts and drinking coffee on my beach chair while watching the sun come up on my favorite end of Po’olenalena Beach. You can spot turtles, whales, and dolphins there, and it is so soothing!
Anywhere in Hawaii! Looking forward to my very first trip next year!
There are SO many wonderful places to be in Hawaii it’s hard to choose!! But I would love to show my kids the Christmas lights in Honolulu and hike Diamond Head!
I would love to be on Molokai, only Molokai, with our friends.
Wow, this question really has me thinking. This year will be our first visit to Hawaii, so I can only speculate. We love hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, scuba diving, and swimming in the ocean and making sand castles on the beach. There are so many areas all over Hawaii to do all the things we love. I believe we would try something new, to make it extra memorable, maybe, try surf lessons in the ocean or an authentic luau at the polyenisian center. Each time we travel someplace new we always buy a Christmas ornament for our tree. That way every year we put up our Christmas tree we can reminise about all the awsome places we’ve been and enjoyed. Three ornaments would be perfect, one for each memeber of my family.
We would go first to the Moana Hotel in Waikiki where they have one of the most beautiful display of Christmas decorations I have every seen. It is Christmas in Hawaii and really gets me into the Holiday spirit. We would follow that up with a trip to Makina Hawaii where we were married on the bluff over looking the beach at the Maui Prince Hotel. We love the drier climate of this side of the island and love watching the whales leaping from the ocean. Itisuch a beautiful area with the best snorkeling, golf and resort life.
Mele Kalikimaka, Aloha,
Jerry Plummer
I would go to Kauai. It’s our favorite Island. So lush and beautiful – we get the true Hawaii feel when we are there.
If I could be in Hawaii for Christmas I think I would want to spend it in Waikiki on the beautiful island of Oahu. I would love to see all the festive lights that adorn Honolulu this time of year. I would want to experience Christmas mass at Kawaiaha’o Church. I would check out the amazing gingerbread village display at the Princess Kaiulani Hotel. And if I had any money left over after buying presents for family and friends, I would buy a little something for me at one of the many shops that line Kalakaua Avenue.
My daughter took me to Hawaii for a long weekend we stayed in waikiki. The locals were so nice, and the island is beautiful. I wish we could have stayed longer. I would live to go back and visit all of the islands.
We ARE going to spend this Christmas in Waikiki going parasailing and playing on the beach! This will be my kids’ first time to Hawaii and we are so excited! We also plan on seeing the Honolulu city lights, going to the PCC and zip lining at Climbworks.
So many great choices….but it would be the Big Island for me.
ALOHA
I love all of these beautiful islands – hard to decide!
But Lanikai Beach and all around is one of my favourite!!
Best greets to all 🙂
It doesn’t matter where. Just on any hawaiian Island. It was a dream for 20 years to go there and I badly miss it.
I am fortunate enough to actually spend Christmas in Hawaii for the first time ever!! I think the hike up diamond heads or watching surfers at the pipeline in the North Shore will be amazing on Christmas! Would love to win these to take back home to Australia and hang on our tree!!
I never have been to Hawaii but i can imagine my self on one of the beaches like Lanikai, sitting and enjoying the scenery.
Kealakekua Bay, Big Island. Amazing place to snorkel and see dolphins…
Mahalo for all the entries! We enjoyed reading where you’d like to spend Christmas in Hawaii.
