Mahalo to Cynthia Randolph for sharing this beautiful shot with us for Aloha Friday Photos.
Cynthia’s photo was taken at the beach fronting the Kahala Resort on Oahu.
Even though this photo was taken many months ago, the emptiness of the beach is very representative of what most Hawaii beaches look like now. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, it’s currently forbidden to sit on a beach or sunbath or just stand around.
While on the topic of the coronavirus, there were some new developments since our update on Tuesday.
- The mayor of the city and county of Honolulu (Oahu) announced an extension of the stay-at-home orders through May 31, 2020. Oahu is the most populated island and has had the vast majority of coronavirus cases.
- We’re still watching and waiting for the governor to detail whether/when the statewide stay-at-home orders may be extended past April 30, 2020.
- Some Hawaii hotels have already announced that they plan to remain closed until May 31, 2020.
These are such odd times, but we look forward to better days to come.
Happy Aloha Friday!
