Mahalo to Holly McClain for this neat Aloha Friday Photo that she took while visiting Oahu in June 2018.
Holly’s photo shows Halona Beach Cove. As you can tell, it’s a very small beach, but here’s an interesting tidbit about this tiny beach — it’s known by three different names:
- Halona Beach/Cove
- “Eternity Beach” due to it being using in the 1953 movie From Here to Eternity
- “Cockroach Cove” for reasons unknown
You can get a very nice view of Halona Beach Cove, like Holly did, from the Halona Blowhole Lookout.
While you do see people at the beach, it is not advised. At the start of the decent, there’s a sign that says, “DANGER DO NOT GO BEYOND THIS POINT.” The pathway is steep, rocky and slippery.
Happy Aloha Friday!
