Hawaii vacation news: October 29, 2024

– A brand new Cirque du Soleil is planned to debut in December. The show’s name is Auana by Cirque du Soleil and it will be based at the newly rebranded and refurbished Outrigger Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel.

– Hawaiian Airlines announced a new sweepstakes to win 500,000 HawaiianMiles that you can use for flights to and from Hawaii. This sweepstakes’ theme, Navigate Your Own Adventure, celebrates the new Disney Moana 2 movie that comes out November 27th. The fine print of this sweepstakes says,  “Open to legal residents of the 50 U.S./D.C., AU (excluding SA), KR, JP, and NZ (“Eligibility Areas”) who are at least 18 years old or age of majority as of date of entry.” From this link, you can enter this sweepstakes and from this link, you can read the official rules.

– Hawaii News Now has an interesting segment about the popular manta ray experiences on Hawaii’s Big Island.

– We’ve been keeping an eye on the most recent hotel worker strike. It’s something to be aware of if you have reservations at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. We had hoped that the strike would be resolved quickly, but it’s still ongoing more than a month later. USA Today published an article on the frustrations of both workers and hotel guests. Per UniteHere’s press release, you can use this link to determine which hotels are on strike. Note that Sheraton Kauai and Sheraton Maui are “at risk” for a strike, though there is not an active strike at the moment.
