Laniakea Beach on Oahu’s North Shore

– Work is underway to reconfigure the road and parking at Laniakea Beach off of Kamehameha Highway on Oahu’s North Shore. This popular spot draws crowds hoping to see  honu (Hawaiian sea turtles) as they come to shore to rest. The parking area will be relocated to the makai (ocean side) of the street to eliminate the need for pedestrians to cross the highway. This reconfiguration should also help alleviate traffic congestion. This project is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete. Watch this news segment for more details.
