Mahalo to Cynthia Randolph for sharing this excellent Aloha Friday Photo with us.
Cynthia’s photo was taken from the Makap’u Lighthouse Trail on Oahu’s east side. As you can tell, the views from this trail make this hike very much worth the effort. The jagged, volcano-formed cliffs seem to dramatically rise from the beautiful, blue Pacific Ocean. It’s a feast for the eyes.
If you like lighthouses, the red-roofed Makap’u Lighthouse is a pretty one to see towards the end of the trail. (Check our article about the Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail to see a photo of the lighthouse.)
The trail is relatively easy to walk. This two-ish-mile-roundtrip trail is paved with a gentle incline.
Locals and visitors enjoy this trail at sunrise year round. Another draw, in humpback whale season is that the trail offers a great vantage point to whale watch.
If you are unable to walk the lighthouse trail, do yourself a favor and stop at the more accessible view point at Makapu’u, where you can see this breathtaking coastline.
Happy Aloha Friday!
